Looks great!
Whoa @RyuX, those are some fantastic looking DMG's! Was the black one originally a clearboy? I'm also really diggin' the snes buttons!
Hey Boddah!
Yeah the black one is an inside painted clear boy with clear finish. I like them too, but the real beast will be unleashed soon, i am building something special at the moment. something like my old orange dmg (see blog).
I also finished my arduinoboy #3
there is also a video on my blog
I am still waiting for my GB Link cable to test it out properly
I ended up getting it all together. Turns out I tried to panel mount a switch somewhere stupid, and I'll have to redo some of the case routing, or find smaller slide switches.
Anyway, here's the finished product!
Everything works, although I keep tweaking the screw tensions to try to take pressure off the screen… I'm not sure if it's that specific backlight or what, but I can't get it in there without a significant amount of pressure being on the screen.
Final Specs:
kitsch case with custom paint and custom buttons.
Panel Mount 1/8" Pro-Sound, wired pre-pot.
Nonfinite V3 Ultra white backlight, switched
Diffused white Power LED
Internal PS/2 port, prototype kitsch hardware.
A heart full of love.
RadioShack speaker replacement, OEM hardware failed.
Actually is the game boy I have had since childhood.
I wanna hear Eruption played on this sexy thang.
Just finished up a couple of DMGs (before I order the backlight and prosound kits) today. Sorry if these pictures are huge, I'm on my phone and can't really resize them.
Here's what I've named the Ghostboy. Glows in the dark (a lot brighter than pictured)
And this is what it looks like with the lights on.
Finally, here's a case I sprayed with X-metals. I definitely prefer using the Montana paint over this, but that's just me. Waiting for some buttons to arrive in the mail to finish this case.
That black and pink one reminds me of a pimp. The screen protector looks like a fuzzy collar of it's pimp coat.
This is the raddest DMG I've ever seen. Without a doubt.
Call me crazy, but I can see this getting even radder. I love this gameboy so much that I photoshopped what I think it's screaming for:
+ White backlight
+ Matching purple screen protector

Damn, you're right. I would buy that in a heartbeat.
People don't use enough colored screen protectors. They're legit.
Thanks guys ! I was actually going to get a purple screen protector, but alas, I couldn't find one anywhere. Also, I've been debating whether or not I should get an Indigo backlight or a white one. I think I may be leaning more towards the white now that I look at that mock-up.
