8GB is an audiovisual producer and DJ from Buenos Aires, Argentina, making music since 1994 and performing it live since 2004. The project came out from Akira's activities both visual and musical and his fixation with old computer hardware restrictions exploited for maximal creative output, as well as his relation to the computer arts underground of the early 90s.
His early influences of Chicago House, classic Electro and Detroit Techno can be heard today in his sets and productions, which are loaded with rhythmic bass-driven, house-inspired, futuristic tunes that flirt with his inherent latin influences.
Live, he performs as an audiovisual set, with super-synchronized visuals that go with the music and with a minimal, non-linear narrative that delivers a live cinema experience.

Kodek’s own scant description could be a mimicry of language spoken by hooligans from Clockwork Orange – “makeing koolio cheap ba$$$ muzeks and ruineing awesomeeoo lable “dexandzeshitty reckordz” lil john mp3>8e”.
Experiencing him on-stage could re-inforce the impression that there are some mental similarities between his attitude and that of the men in Anthony Burgess novel. In more normal language one can tell that Kodek is a young producer from Madona in Latvia and has over the years developed his own lo-fi/gameboy/8-bit breakbeat enveloped in a trashy visual universe with cheap consumerist, pornographic and political collages. If one thinks the resurgent cassette tapes is a regressive format, think of Kodek’s label Dexinthecity that is issuing music on floppy disks.
