I'm having the following problem running LSDJ on a GBA sp. I've load the rom on the GBA using the EZflash IV an goomba. All works fine  I'm geeting nice sound as you can see in the background of this one:

But I've the following problem I don't get the BPM correctly, I think that this sould be because the GBA is running LSDJ using goomba and the ARM procesor instead of the Z80. The BPM does not match the original, always corresponds to a smaller number.

Anyone have any suggestions?

As you pointed out yourself, the GBA's clock speed is faster. The colour's is,too.

If I recall correctly, LSDj has code written to compensate for the clock speeds of various compatible devices so that tuning and tempo stay fairly consistent. Ergo, a Game Boy Color and a Super Game Boy don't have tuning problems compared to the Game Boy and the Game Boy Pocket.

I don't know much about Goomba, but it's clearly not super accurate, and small issues like that are going to just come with the territory when you use it for something where accuracy of emulation matters.

^ This. He's right. Not much else you can do. Actually, maybe try using LSDJ on a GameBoy flashkart. GBA is compatible with GB karts, so, as stated in the LSDJ Wiki (http://littlesounddj.wikia.com/wiki/Little_Sound_Dj_FAQ), you could try and use LSDJ off a GB kart. You can buy them here: http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/usb-64m-smart-card. It's just an idea. It might work better because you aren't using an emulator, but it might not. Try using the LSDJ Wiki to dig around a bit.

Thanks for your answers.

I know that a GB kart will solve the problem, but now is realy hard to get one. Note that kitsch-bent says that is sold out.

I think that realy the BPM in a GBA using goomba to emulate a Z80 procesor produces a lower speed.

For example running my GBA at 100 BPM realy is somewhere about 86-67 BPM, so it goes slower. So the problem is not only a smal accuracy, it goes really slow.

I'm not shure if this can be solved using goomba in properly way, to get a better performace.

thanks Aeros. I will check it.

Anyway is there someone using goomba?

the Game Boy Advance hardware emulates the Game Boy Color for backwards compatibility, so if you use LSDj in a Game Boy Color flash cartridge, it is identical to running it on a Game Boy Color. I do this all the time.

I'm not sure if "hardware emulates" is the correct terminology, but there's a switch in the cartridge slot that is triggered when you put a classic form factor cartridge in, and when you power on the GBA with one inserted, it starts an internal Game Boy Color CPU instead of the GBA CPU.

It doesn't emulate it, it's just a more condensed unit, much like how the DS contains a condensed bit of the GBA. Everything else you said is right smile

As I understand theres no emulation when running a GB cart in GBA, this why contains a Z80. So If I use a GB flash cart all goes OK.

But When I use goomba it runs in GBA mode so the ARM procesor must to translate to Z80, thats the emulation. This why it LSDJ goes slower. Is this rigth?

In layman's terms, yes.

yeah sorry man. if you need a cart and kitsch is out or something (and money isnt an issue) making a wtb thread would probably net you one here. good luck!

Walter's right. Making a WTB thread would work, but Kitsh says that they will get them back in stock in the next few days.So you should just hang out. That's all you can do really.

Thank you

You also could just use nanoloop for composing with a GBA.

kitsch isn't the only dude selling ems carts. nonfinite, dj transformer (I'd highly recommend him!), plenty of other dealers around!!
