ok my bad, what about the others. the first song in the romney obama video sounds like a C64.

edit: and again my bad, the song in the video is actually Zabutoms remix of my track, hence the parts I didn't recognize. it was released on the RDA remixes EP from 2010

whoever made this video obviously got paid $$$ and I think the person responsible for the music deserves their $.

I remember Josh posted about this when the videos started, so clearly he signed off on them using some of his music..

It gets even weirder if you consider that they did ask him but at a certain point just started using whatever chip music they wanted. Sounds like someone at Slate just got lazy sad

i dunno about that man, you dont just get lazy and slip a remix into a video thats got that much production goin on in it, ahaha. of course they might play it off legit as if they just misplaced their paperwork, and never got a receipt out to zabu or dubmood, but they owe em restitution, no two ways about it.

curious to see bit shifter weigh in on this and how much transparency he can give us, it will certainly serve to be useful depending on how this goes and possibly he could aid to come to some terms of agreement here if the lines of communication are open. heres hoping, that would be a best case scenario. i gotta say again tho, at least its a video that has a significant amount of production to it and looks 'pro'. of course that doesnt make this situation look any better, but if people recognize it and appreciate and enjoy it after a resolve is reached, it at least looks like they put a modicum of work into it.

i certainly dont like the content and i think its pretty gross, but thats my opinion. you would have thought that they would have went with some music that sounded a little bit more like mortal kombat music though. my impression is that they put all their funding and effort toward the video and then the audio was an afterthought, and a fairly shortchanging one that maybe they had to handle in a lump sum for all those vids and yeah, i guess they coulda simply gotten sloppy. but the fact that they cleared bit shifters songs leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

Just got off the phone with bit shifter. He was involved with the video-producers and he told me they were all really pro and nice and the only episode he wasn't involved with was that last one because he wasn't available at that time (blip tokyo) so they had told him they would get someone else for that last ep. Anyways, he concluded to that it probably is just a mistake from their side and he is hooking me up with them directly so we can sort this out.
So probably just a fuckup by slate, maybe because of a tight deadline or something.

what is left is maybe to identify the first song in the episode, since it is neither mine nor porno-uzis.

Ok they just got back to me and it is in fact a fuckup by porno uzi. They took the song from http://archive.org/details/Commodore64Mix since used it for free since that mix is released under CC. Now, I have never agreed to that _any_ of our material to be released under CC, and on top of that the song is misslabeled (given the name from a c64 demo it appeard in, not its actual title)

So, thanks to porno-uzi releasing our material under CC against our knowledge and will, the misslabeleing and on top of that the ignorance from Slate to not read/understand that it was a mix with music from other artists than porno-uzi, we have got us a situation here.

now let this be a lesson to you all, never upload anyone elses stuff under a CC license without asking first or there will be shitstorms.

props to dubmood for the active thread on the situation. this stuff happens so often that i think it's really helpful for all of us to see how these things develop (and hopefully get worked out) in a transparent way.

I do love our "chip music theft" lynch mobs, and I'm not saying that sarcastically or anything.

I would say this is more upsetting than flattering, given the circumstance and how they sampled and modified his song. If they don't care enough to make it right, sue the bastards.

Best luck to you buddy, there is no glamour in situations such as this and i hope that a resolve comes sooner then later.  Do what you can, dubmood has been in my music library since 04 or 05 and if we(i?) can do anything let us(me?) know.

Original title? I called Zabutom's cover on your track as it is called in info text of HVSC's SID module. Claims me about CC is possible and reasonable, but as I understand, this version of the CC proves my rejection of copyright, as it is not my music. All of my mixes and original tracks on archive.org mentioned under that kind of license. Apparently I just did not understand the differences in these licenses.
What do I think about all this ... I think that's enough to engage in this nonsense, this is ridiculous. You made me into a pirate, and I just simply wanted to show people the music.
And to me, a musician named Dubmood now exists. I will just disgusting to think about this garbage that you gave here. I would advise you to caught the balls of people who upload your paid albums on the internet, but "did not burn witches at your 8-bit fires".
