I am sorry but I don't understand your message :S
I have no problem with people pirating my music on the net, everything else would be extremely hypocrite seeing my history... but this wasn't the case here. What you did was to release my music under a CC license, which gives people like Slate TV the right to use it for commercial purposes, that is not the same as pirating it, that is 100 times worse. If you didn't understand what CC was then I can't blame you but let this be a lesson to you, and everyone else, that it is not cool to take peoples work and put it out under CC against their will. I never meant to be offensive against you and I don't think I have?

He does not want to understand. He, knows the acknowledges the error, but does not care. Big ups to dubmood glad your frequencies were shared through this whole thing
I can't see the link any more, was that a DJ mix/mixtape, or a compilation?
In any case, Zabutom has released the track on HVSC, which even though you can download for free, is NOT RELEASED UNDER A CREATIVE COMMONS LICENSE. Then, inclusion on a compilation would be kosher as long as there are no commercial means involved. That's explained briefly on teh HVSC FAQ (HVSC should explain better their legal status, actually to avoid things like this)
It all boils down to what CC license was used by porno-uzi. If the license he used did NOT allow commercial works to be built upon it, the people to blame are those who used the tune rather than porno-uzi. People TEND TO BELIEVE that because something is in CC it's FREE TO USE ANYWHERE and this is NOT true. As the link is gone now, I can't tell.
[edit] actually, I cant even find the Zabutom tune in the HVSC. But Porno-uzi seems t be using an "Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0" in his works so if he did use the same license for that compilation, then the people at fault are those who put it in the video.

The link isn't clickable in the first post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72YG2DhWHmE
Akira: this was the license that porno-uzi put out the compil (mp3 versions of sids) under: http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/
edit: and the compil is no longer on archive.org because I told them to take the song down, but they removed the whole compilation... I guess they didn't want to take any risks.

Per a Nintendo vs Tengen case regarding rights to Tetris, it is determined that youthat getting a license from a person who does not have rights in the first place means there was no transfer of rights. I'm not a lawyer, hope that was useful.

Yes and that makes a lot of sense. I do think the people to blame are those who used the tune.

what do you think a legal shitstorm would look like
Original title? I called Zabutom's cover on your track as it is called in info text of HVSC's SID module. Claims me about CC is possible and reasonable, but as I understand, this version of the CC proves my rejection of copyright, as it is not my music. All of my mixes and original tracks on archive.org mentioned under that kind of license. Apparently I just did not understand the differences in these licenses.
What do I think about all this ... I think that's enough to engage in this nonsense, this is ridiculous. You made me into a pirate, and I just simply wanted to show people the music.
Don't release other people's music under licenses you don't understand (CC, believe it or not, is not simply some sort of political badge to prove your rejection of copyright), and don't blame anyone else for your own ignorance when you end up in a shitty situation because of it. Also, don't go bananas when dubmood points out your error quite matter-of-factly.

Brown and swirling with papers flying everywhere?
Everything actually got sorted out really smooth with Slate. So nothing more to see here, move along move along.
and again, read up on licenses before you spread someones work on the internet. sharing is caring, but stripping someones work of its rights so it can be used for commercial and political purposes is not.
I guess this thread can be locked now.

All's well that ends well, good luck. (inb4 lawsuit from Shakespeare's estate.)

я же тебе крайне точно указал вектор движения.
сходил? как там кстати?
2 Dubmood and those who did not understand what I wrote earlier.
My mistake was too lazy to study for licensing on archive.org. And anyway, I never thought about it. Otherwise, I do not consider myself guilty. I did not think that I may have difficulty in demoscene and 8-bit society.
And I wrote a track title as indicated here:
