While I was removing the foil from the screen some of the residue from the screen stayed on. Is there a way to remove it or do I have to get another gameboy and start over. This was my first time doing the backlight mod so I'm a noob.

i hear people use a tiny bit (very tiny) of rubbing alcohol and a q-tip can remove it
just do use too much cause you dont want the alcohol dripping onto the gameboy's pcb

Thanks. I'll try that right now.

Yea I believe alcohol should work.  So no need to start over...  As for alcohol dripping on the PCB, don't sweat that.  Alcohol evaporates clean and is usually used to clean the PCB.  So you should be fine if it happens.

i've found the little throwaway towels used to clean eye glasses work well.  'lens cleanser pad' or something like that.

they don't scratch, are pre-soaked in an alcohol based solution just for this sort of thing, and are individually wrapped for convenience.  and, they should dry streak-free since they are for glasses

if you or someone in your house happens to wear glasses, track them down and give it a shot!

That's not one from us, is it? I've never seen a dead LED in a panel like this.

You can't fix dead LEDs and you probably can't replace it easily either. Try to return it or exchange it, the resistor value is probably wrong, or these aren't tested and the board is faulty.
