Found an old discarded 1,5mm backlit daughterboard and hooked it up to the motherboard of my primary DMG.
However, the LCD is completely fucked up, with vertical streaking.

Don't mind the green splotches, that's just my webcam being a $5 piece of shit.

Is this a fixable issue or does it have something to do with the screen itself?

There is a problem with the screen.
It's potentially fixable... but the process of fixing it could actually make it worse.

It's generally the ribbon cable under the LCD. The solder joints have likely ripped from the cable. Sometimes you can patch them up with solder.

This kind of thing usually happens with a short. in feeling like something is shorted on the LCD ribbon or on the connector between the two boards.

Edit:
so what he said^

Yeah, just take a soldering gun to it. Most of the time you don't need to even solder anything. The heat just makes the glue under it melt and if you keep gently rubbing the gun around on the top of the cable you'll get it to come back on.

It's not missing pixels, it's like it's bleeding into each other. Didn't realize the picture was that terrible, sorry.
I'd take a better picture but I left for my dorm and won't be home until another 2 days, so have a terrible mockup for now.
