Anyone know of some groups/artists who use mostly Sega Genesis chip sounds? It seems to be few and far between who are utilizing these (the Flight Away is the only really really awesome one I'm aware of). Anyone else have recommendations?
All the FM in my stuff is Yamaha FB01, which has a near identical sound chip to the genesis/megadrive. And I have a GenMDM midi interface ready for my next set of work....
Nice. I'm already your biggest fan for your rock stuff I've done some fiddling with VOPM to kind of mock up the Genesis sound, but I'm wondering if there are more musicians who have made it the cornerstone of their sound. It's such a nostalgic set of tones for me, even more so than 8-bit!
Groovemaster303.
Utabi, though he actually composes on a x6800, I realize. Still Yamaha FM. More IDM-ish sound.
Jredd does a lot of Genesis stuff.
Animal Style's Trenchvent http://www.8bitpeoples.com/discography/8BP106?show=all
the jredd, groovemaster303, and dropbit combo is pretty slammin.
Freezedream released his nice, chill album "Today" on an actual SEGA Genesis cart. You can get the MP3s for free from BandCamp... they were recorded from a console: http://freezedream.bandcamp.com/album/today

its glitch/noise stuff but its really cool how they got it to work. the album description explains how.
I've recently stared doing Sega chiptune. I've been making music for 8 years. Soundtrack, DnB, Trance, House, Jungle, Techno, Downtempo, Atmospheric, Rock, Metal, you name it I've done it. And now Chiptune. I'll be making track pretty regularly. I hope you enjoy it!
Are you looking for FM in general or specifically Genesis/Megadrive?
anything…so far freezedream=new favorite anything i have!
