[Well, I'm just started out with modding, so go easy on me please :) ]

I'm trying to restore a DMG, preparing it for some mod (want to do screen backlight, prosound, pitch mod later). I recapped it, but something is definitely not OK - when it's turned on, the screen contrast is constantly changing.

Do you have any idea on how to solve this, what to check, etc.?

don't know but I have a similar thing with a stock pocket, do you use  the same cart every time you turn it on? For me it happens when ever I switch carts.

It doesn't matter which cart I use. Of course, I've checked the batteries, no problems with that either.

edit: Just checked the polarity everywhere, it seems to be OK (except that I forgot to replace one cap). When I turn the contrast dial, sometimes the contrast is table, sometimes it's changing. I guess it would be nice to replace the contrast and volume pots too...?

You can always shoot some electronic cleaner in them as well. sounds like dial may have bad contact
