i do this sometimes, but i hate giving up stereo so i usually just sync up a second one that is routed to different FX / EQ.

There's hardly very few sound systems at clubs etc. where stereo can be apreciated, therefore, this method is good. Also, you can stereo separate/image each channel if you so wish so.
You can also precisely EQ the channels, you can boost more the bass on one and more the treble on the other.
