so my advice for anyone wanting to help the chip scene at this point is to make that lineup from chip-con actually happen

see, I've been organizing the Montreal chiptune scene for what, 5 years now? And, truth be told, this is an untapped market of riches beyond dreams! So there you go, it's easy. Step one: fall asleep. Step two: dream. Step three: wake up! Step four: repeat steps 1-3 (remember, dream was pluralized) step five: ??? step six: PROFIT!

Doesn't even need the same lineup. I suggest either grafting it into the Kentucky event, or creating a new, demoscene-like event, organized and run by Bright Primate.
OP: Exactly how "long" have you been into chipmusic? Do you even "chiptune"?
One thing I'd suggest you do is just get into it with no ulterior motives and just explore and see what it's all about and enjoy the music and stuff.
