that photo was taken near where i grew up, in suburban maryland

it depends on where u are i guess .. where i grew up there was a kind of awkward mix of richer neighborhoods and dollar store shopping centers and often it was a very surreal place to live .. very humid. sitting outside my house in silver spring i remember hearing cars blasting r&b and hip hop and thinking how cool and foreign the sound was compared to the music played around my house. so that, along with long hot summers playing ultimate frisbee and gameboy are some of my influences

i kind of wish it was like that here (small town in western washington), it rains for half of the summer, and the hottest it's ever been in seattle is 103. the only music folks around here blast is either christian metal or modern rap (bad, and really bad) haha
