So I wanted a frontlit gbc. the mod was successful. Now i have an extra ags 001 that i only play in the daytime. Can it be backlit? Always wondered what it would be like to have an ags 101...

then how is the ags 101 backlit? different lcd?
Oh, we're talking about SP's now. My mistake.
Nevermind, I don't touch 'em. Anyhow I don't think it is backlit; still frontlit. It just has two brightness options.
You can't backlight GBC, only front light because of the design of the GBC lcd screen.
You have to salvage a frontlight from an AGS-001 SP. The AGS-101 SP are backlit and the lighting is built into the LCD. You can't swap LCDs.
I have never had a 101 pulled apart
AGS-001 you can use this.
AGS-101 you cannot us this.
You don't swap lcds.
You add the front light panel to the GBC from the SP.
101s were backlit like the micro. The color on them looks much better as well. You cannot backlight the original sp much like you can't the gbc because of LCD design
So that's where GBC frontlights come from. I never knew.

OP's talking about putting a AGS-101 screen inside his light-less AGS-001. You can't, The motherboards are different between the two verisons so you can't just swap the LCD.
oh well. i have an excuse to sit in the sun and compose.
has anyone put together a tutorial to get a sp to play on a tv? I think i will midify this sp too.
