Seems like some of you might be more familiar with this than I am.

I'm curious, do these composers take a lot of compositional shortcuts besides standard copy and pasting of phrases or do they painstakingly drop in notes "one by one"?

Cool stuff, kinda disappointed they don't explore pitch and mod/vibrato data, nor do they create percussion noises via creatively slammed notes.  This could be a fun platform if I could figure out an efficient entry method.

I think its one of those things where the best method is CRAZY AUTISM SPECTRUM LIKE FOCUS.

Maybe someone will make a black midi sequencer and kill the genre.

Ya, I have to agree with Danimal here. It seems like you could easily create some better sounding percussion noises with a little creativity. Like the classic sounding megaman kick with a piano roll rather than mushing all the keys down at once. Seems like the point though is to create something someone could never play by stacking tons of notes into the song. The outcome, at least to me, sounds less like music and more like a competition to see how many notes you can actually use and still have a recognizable song.

Reminds me of that Owen was her trend we had a few years ago

I'm finding Conlon Nancarrow's stuff a lot more interesting sonically than the black midi.  Never heard of him before I saw his name on this.

Strobe in battleofthebits.org is capable of MIDI like that. Do not attempt on hardware, the cable can't send that much data that quickly. Yes, I think it's copypasta on a piano roll. Many tracks can send to the same channel. I only hope that there are more serious tunes made.

I think it looks awesome when in standard notation. Artsy-ish.

Conlan Nancarrow's stuff is batshit crazy! Have you got the link to the one that's just non-stop notes and then almost like a "ta-dah" at the end?!

Now that is sounding wicked. Like a nasty filter distortion almost. I enjoyed seeing the build process for the sound as well.
