(inb4 gold DMG)
Quick question, guys.
I know there are a couple sites with lists/pictures of rare limited/special edition Gameboys, but I can't seem to find any of them at the moment.
Could someone link me to any of them?
I'm looking for images of any and every special edition one out there, but at the moment I'm particularly interested in finding more pictures of the Kirby DMG in this picture.
I have some speculation about that Kirby gameboy. Kirby's Dream Land is the very first game featuring Kirby. It was released on the gameboy, yes before the NES! He was actually white, not pink. BUT, when they called him Popopo instead of kirby for s short time, he seems to have been pink......idk. I also want to point that that it has no Nintendo logo and has the original pink/light grey buttons as well as the light grey screen cover. I do not think that it is legit. Same goes for the Wario boy.
That being said, I think the heart boy is also painted.

The heart one's been posted here a couple of times, apparently it was a custom painted DMG that was a prize in some game show.
According to Wikipedia the Wario one was a limited edition one given away in the UK through a contest on the show Ghost Train.
I seem to remember reading about the Kirby one and seeing more pictures of it before, but I can't find anything on it any more.
EDIT: And yeah, the picture I posted in the OP is up on Nintendo's UK site. Pretty sure they wouldn't use it if any of the pictured systems weren't legit.

Huh, I did not know that. It does look like the Wario gameboy has a chip in the paint. I find it funny that Nintendo would paint an existing gameboy.

i'd love to know if they printed the start/select/logo text on first (and just painted a grey case)
maybe the site is faking it for their image's sake (?) you'd think they'd just repaint it them...
that is pretty weird though
Couldn't see the Kirby one you were talking about, but this page has some good info.
Recently, while browsing Taobao, I stumbled upon a weird one:
(The bottom middle one. The bottom right one is obviously a clone, possibly of the Kongfeng variation.)
It is definitely not a regular blue PIL, they had black decals and black buttons. Maybe a very, very well made clone? Anyone familiar with this variant?

That blue shell is very pretty but probably an aftermarket shell/knockoff clone. The purple one on the bottom right is just gorgeous. I've seen other clones like it but in grey shells...I've never seen a purple one. I'm quite partial to purple.
bottom middle and bottom right would both have some pretty sizeable value.
Necro-post.
Kirby-boy is legit:

That was the link I posted. It is a really cool resource when looking for some of the less known stuff.
Edit: Oh, they updated it at some point...

Haha, so you did. I somehow missed that completely.
I have a Kirby boy but lost the box and certificate over the years it looks so nice I want to mod it but I don't dare.
