Latency is also an issue if you don't configure your sample buffers correctly in your DAW. Make sure they are configured correctly, for me it's the difference between a functioning and a non-functioning setup.
I think this is class compliant which means you can use this with something like a kenton usb host or a raspberry pi + a usb midi device to get your din midi device into your gameboy.

It's very easy to update. You'll just need the Arduino and Teensy software and a USB mini cable. The software is on the noizeinabox blog but there have been no updates. I've updated the mGB file so that there are no skipped notes anymore.
