Sorry if this particular question has been asked for 1000 times, but since there's a lot of information about syncing this and that to whatever that gets me confused, I thought to ask again. My only goal is to sync the 1.7 Nanoloop (as a slave) to a drum machine (as a master) with midi signal, no USB, no pc/mac software. With what? What are the differences between the options? I hope it would be a solid sync that would be reliable in a live situation, that's what matters most.

Options:
- lsdjmc2
- Midi-Bastl
- something else, arduinoboy?

What would you consider my best option?

arduinoboy would be the cheapest/easiest option. from what i hear though, you can get a pi to work as a usb midi host for a nanoloop usb-midi adapter (though the usb-midi is out of stock)

I use lsdjmc2 for this, it's reliable, the sync is good in slave mode. they are difficult to find.
I have try arduinoboy, and same thing, only slave mode works fine.

I had try nanoloop 1.6 and 2.3 or 2.5 in this mode.

MidiBastl seems to work very well! -> http://youtu.be/PZqikXf6UGM

Indeed, but this video shows a Gameboy as master to Volca's sync in.

I say bullshit...

Nanoloop 1.x is good in master mode.
It works nicely.
So all midi/gb stuff need to be put in slave.
In slave mode it had some stnc problem...

I think the cheapest solution is to use nanoloop as master clock.
Nanoloop seems to send 12ppqn clock (48 pulses in 1 pattern).
Volca runs on 2 ppqn (8 pulses in 1 pattern)
So you have to divide nanoloop clock by 6 to get right clock for Volca
(it actually should work as it is, but Volca will run 6x faster than nanoloop).
So you have to find schematics with 4017 clock divider.
actually, you have to adjust this schematics for your needs i think:

clear?
or anyone disagree?

why are you all assuming this person wants to use a volca? they even have it in the original post that they want the drum machine as master via midi specifically

Right, My fault. Sorry. So Midibast. Or some Midi to CV converter.

http://gieskes.nl/instruments/?file=gameboy  .....hm.  Im not seeing the particular sync device that works well for nanoloop( I bought one in 09), but if you message him nicely about it.

Thank you. Just threw an email to XIWI if they still do those.

Any other sellers? Preferably assembled, but a kit will do if it's the only option.

I can solder wires but these diy kits have not worked out so well for me. I wish I was a little bit better with those things.

I live in Finland (EU).
