my favorite non-4/4 time sig is 7/4...

Mine too e.s.c. Although I've become quite fond of 29/4 lately. It consists of three measures of 7/4 and the last one resolves with 4/4. So much more fun to write solos in this format because of the even and rounded last measure.

This song goes has sections in 9/4, 17/8, 4/4, and sections that make me get too frustrated when I try to count them out even though I co-wrote the fuckin' song.

Also, Dino Lionetti is the master at writing in unconventional time signatures.

I'm such a noob with music terms. Would a 3/4 be 4 Phrases in a Chain that is strung together in 3s, or the other way round? Or am I totally off all together?

6/4 is way more interesting than 6/8 imo...

3/4 is putting a H00 command on row C of a phrase, and accenting the beats on rows 0, 4 and 8.
6/8 is the same, except you accent rows 0 and 6 (or 0, 3, 6 and 9 for fast stuff i guess).

this is all just LSDJ tho

also:
here is some dissonant 5/8 chip stuff i did with a tb-303
this is some pretty 6/8 chip stuff i went and done
and this is some post-synthpop 7/8 thing which isn't chip but still cool

My NES music has a smattering of oddball time signatures as well as light experimentation with polytempo/tuplets. For instance...
https://cakmusic.bandcamp.com/track/sal … ez-in-2064
Drums are 31/16 time while the rest of the music assumes 4/4, then the tempo is halved and the music assumes the same feel as the drums.

54/8 - https://ilkae.bandcamp.com/track/magnesium
13/8 - https://ilkae.bandcamp.com/track/inedible-candy
11/4 - https://inpuj.bandcamp.com/track/spider

and a nice standard 5/4: https://ilkae.bandcamp.com/track/title-track

64 row patterns get really stale after a few years.
