This may be a dumb question, but I just don't want to ruin anything 
Anyways, what I'm wondering is: On the RGBx3 backlight the tab marked "A" is 5v and the RGB tabs connect to ground correct?

I might be wrong, but I'm assuming "A" stands for Anode. Which would mean you are correct.

A does indeed stand for anode!
i'm so absolutely sorry for not having the install docs done yet. i just can't seem to get ahead enough in life stuff lately to tackle non-immediately-need-to-be-done things! but will asap
