I got a GB xchanger from ebay for $45. Wikipedia says it needs a male to male db25 cable. I was wondering if anyone who uses the gb xchanger has experiance with Male to male DB25 to USB? Will it work or should I just find a computer with kind of port?
Most USB parallel devices don't fully support all the pins, as they are designed for those using them purely to connect a printer. If you can find a fully functional one it'll work but those are rare and if you want to go the USB route your best bet is probably an arduino-based solution.
an arduino-based solution.
Can you link me to an example?

I don't know of one that already exists but the arduino should be more than capable of doing it.
EDIT: Another inexpensive option is a PCIe card:

I cannot vouch for this card, but I have one similar. Works a charm with my Willem progger.
...frankly it works better than the Willem, but that is besides the point.
