So, I know there was a thread a while ago about this very same subject, but I wondered if there was any new info on how to do this. Flashcarts, trackers, ect.
Honestly I've heard some good sounding waveform come out of that machine and would be curious about a sound channel rundown.
So far wiki only says "10-bit stereo"
I hear a noise and sample and something like three tone channels. Some of which sound like they can be non-pulse waveforms. I'm just guessing at all this so I'd love to see the real answer.
EDIT:
Ok I think I answered my own question.
it has 1 noise channel and 5 '32 sample PCM' channels.
and only the 5th PCM and the noise channels have sweep and modulation controls. the other 4 only have envelopes.

No thanks, I'd like to keep my vision.
Haha, maybe if there was a cool 3D demo scene for it the visuals might be worth it, but I was thinking more like being able to program the song in something like MML or Daflemask and just exporting the song for playback.
wish someone would make a proper virtual boy emulator for the 3ds...

This is pretty much exactly what I have been looking for. Here's hoping someone can develop something like this.
Man, if i owned a virtual boy I would def make a flash cart for it. Honestly though, they are just too uncommon...
Edit:
I have to retract my interest. It seems that the cart's have a custom connector that can only be salvaged from existing carts . too bad too considering all of those channels.

PC-Engine is almost identically in sound features than Virtual Boy. For DefleMask, there was a fight in my head between VirtualBoy and NEC PC-Engine, I decided to add the NEC system after all, it has a more active scene than VB.
EDIT: It doesn't have "PCM" channels, they are 32 steps 6 bits editable waveforms. Just like PCE, Game Boy wave channel, etc.

I know this is a bit off-topic, but I hope someone ports virtual boy games to the oculus rift and etc

That would be sweet. The emulator could be modified for visual filters like softer colors or textures.
Have you read this thread? http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/v mp;start=0
Seems like that's not necessarily the case.

My VB is happily sitting the closet waiting the glorious VR revolution.
The link for that header seems to be no longer good, but I have found a few headers on mouser that may or may not work as well.

The headers could be cheaper...
I also cam across a few schemats that will come in handy.

EDIT: Nevermind. The connectors may not have enough pins...
EDIT again:

This connector seems ideal. Through hole, 2mm, 60 pins (2x30), no extra plastic requiring any hand-finishing. Still almost $5 each though...

How about these? ~.75 cents each shipped.

Better, yes. Still would require hand trimming but at that price, I cannot complain.
...
I actually found some others which will require no cutting.

Cheaper too. I should check ebay more often I suppose. Thanks.
