I like the snare and the hats the most, weirdly. I kind of take issue with this thing being called an analog drum synth, when almost half of the drums are PCM, but whatever. It's good for the price.

quick no one tell him about the 909.

All drums except for the hi-hats and cymbals are synthetically generated; there is an oscillator circuit with a dedicated filter and envelope curve. The hi-hats and cymbals are 6-bit samples, compressed and combined with a volume envelope curve (and tuning) to allow slight modification. Thanks to the analog circuitry, various aspects of the drum sound can be modified (pitch, attack, decay).

yikes nooOOoo!

I don't think analog was a selling point back then though. They were competing with LinnDrum which was all PCM. These days it's like a badge of honor.

OK
I uploaded some polyrhythm patterns from Volca (both around 35 BPM) with individual shutter settings for individual instruments.

personally id go for the old mk1 electribes over a volca any day, greater memory in all aspects, midi in out and thru, more pattern options....
i think they beat the volca on all levels.....

Kick, Snare, Toms and Hats are analog, Other sounds are samples. There is no way to store your analog sounds settings. You can change pitch of sampled sounds, you can record pitch changes of sampled sounds for each sampled instrument individually and you can save these changes (or pitch settings) in each of 8 memories. So you actually could create some kind of musical, melodical patterns in sampled sounds channels.

Thank you. Can you automate stutter for each step?

You have to record shutter moves for whole pattern. No way to record it for each step individually.

^^that's a sample pack of sounds made with LSDJ. I just chucked those in the volca sample. So much fun. I've personally never used the beats but this was one of the first ideas I had with the sample.

I opted for the Sample instead of the Beats as well as I could get them on eBay for about the same price, and I've been using it almost exclusively as a drum machine.
