There is a project currently on Kickstarter that's a hardware chiptune MIDI synth. Apparently, it's an improved version of a previous NES-sounding synth from the same company.
It looks cool, but as a cheapmusic enthousiast, I wouldn't pay more than 35-40 € / $ for this. I know there is much R&D work on it, but the board itself has like 15$ of components on it.

I'd be more interested in having a 2A03 on an Arduino and being able to play NSFs.
