I've been working on a Vaporwave styled album and finding a lot of unique synth tones by layering the melodic channels in Nanoloop2 to make chords. The FM synth especially has a really warm, lo-fi tone when used properly.
I'm wondering if anyone else on here has worked in this style using chip instruments and could give me some ideas. thanks!
Vapor wave has a lot of sidechaining to the kick if you can duck that chord on a lower bpm more vapor tempo and do like a reverse chord and throw some reverb on it or echo and your golden !
Got nothing of the sort uploaded on the internet-tubes right NOW but yes I've worked with gameboys to make vaporwave before. And retrowave... And ambient. Gameboy is freaking great for everything.
LSDJ though, I've not worked with Nanoloop yet at all tbh. But seems like NL can make really impressive stuff so I think I'm destined to get a cart at some point.
I used a Korg monotron delay with a peak-mod, microkorg and some pedals to really make some crunchy drones and made pitched melodies tuning the delay time knob and sampling that on cassette. So much fun!
Yes, but its a secret to everybody
Yes exactly, everyone freaking denies it but has Vektroid's "Neo Cali" and pictures of Ancient roman statues on their computer/browsing history. Enough with the shaming of vaporwave culture! it's a rich culture with even richer dank aesthetics.

This is a Metro-ko household, young man! You either get sad and entrenched in the social isolation of the big city, slowly dissapearing between skyscrapers and streetlights, or you GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE!
I dont know honestly. I've been doing Ableton stuff but I think it's more "inspired" than entirely just vaporwave.

same here sister, or a track accidentally turns into vaporwave...I'm having a hard time sticking to one genre on Ableton
this typeface has got wrong kerning and ligatures in majuscules
I am doing some as LACROUSTE, using only brazilian stuff:

But I am totally inspired by vapour with my chip too.

I just watch frank angottis Simpson wave videos
I don't think I can make real *wave music, because I can't hear it or look at it from the correct point of view. I was lucky enough to sneak a track into Cutsman's show, but truth be told, that song is really just Fairlight and Rhodes samples.
I've been making "pure" vaporwave with custom-made modular vsts, some sneaky '80s mixing techniques, minimal sampling, and a tape deck (as opposed to any chip gear), which isn't really what this thread was about.
But yeah, here's a taste from a while back:

I did also do this once:
but i guess that's not really what this thread is about, either.
