if in the chain i put a bitcrusher on it or if i layer the sunsoft bass under it

I disagree, if you go down this path youll never win the respect of your peers <stares down an empty hallway>

it doesnt matter what you do?

Your actions always matter.
I say either call it "post-post-chiptune" or let other people decide what to call it when they hear it.
Probably makes more sense to just leave chipmusic out of it. Running something through a bitcrusher or using a lofi sampler doesn't really have much to do with chip tbh
Is post-chiptune even a thing? I've been jokingly using that name for my stuff for years lol
If you do something as a joke for long enough, it stops being a joke and starts becoming a thing.
Does that make you the creator of post-chiptune?
ive just discovered a fuck ton of suff tagged as post-chiptune on band camp. most of it seems to be worth a better listen lol.
