Setting up my card, and I'm following a tutorial here: http://eab.abime.net/archive/index.php/t-18786.html
All installed as to his specification, except when I try to connect I recieve this error.

;AmiTCP:db/interfaces: argument line invalid or too long at line 156 when looking for interface EtherLinkIII
iface_find(EtherLinkIII): no such interface in AmiTCP:db/interfaces

it all makes perfect sense as an error, but my interfaces file has the interface listed pointing towards the correct driver (http://aminet.net/driver/net/3c589.lha)

The interface I'm using is listed as:
3Com Corporation
3C589D
Version 4.1 TP/BNC LAN Card Ver.2a

The line I added in my interfaces file is:
EtherLinkIII DEV=DEVS:Networks/3c589.device UNIT=0

Can anyone point towards a solution?

Ok, after carefully assessing the a few files I have realised I may have installed incorrectly, after reconfiguring everything is hunky dory.
Now to find a browser smile

Congratulations to you for installing AmiTCP/IP, I just never managed to get it running.

Managed to get ahold of one of these for a cheap price: http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/ra1210
8mb ram + 12mhz 68881 fpu, so Aweb will have to wait until this baby arrives, using Alynx now to browse Chipflip, but its nice to know the ethernet adapter is working/workable.

A few newb clearups:
Do you know wether or not this card has an option to limit the ram to 4mb?
That page mentions a disable jumper, is this the same thing?
Will changing the SIMM card to a 4mb card smooth out all PCMCIA conflicts?

Can't wait to finally use WHDload properly big_smile

Oh, you are worried about your PCMCIA slot.
Check http://www.amiga-hardware.com/ to see if your card has problems with PCMCIA devices.
Disable jumper will disable the whole thing, not just part of it.
Changing to a 4MB card WILL fix the problem. But as I said, maybe you DON'T have problems.

I think I may have a problem with my PCMCIA slot, i tihnk i blew up both my wireless and 3com ethernet cards, they are not recognized by my Amiga anymore hmm

I run a 3c589 (with an 8 mb RAM expansion). Try Aweb with the RAM expansion.

Nice stuff! I have always been curious about Amiga since I saw a friend's machine once, but never got into it. Great to see you're taking it into the online age though, it's a great thing to do with the old-timer machines.

I see it as my final solution using floppy/compact flash, i'll be able to update from t'net!
Also discovering a HDF>Hard drive program helps too.

Just an update: my card works perfectly with my PCMCIA CF card, time to kill WHDload games muahaha.
