Wichita State University offered an Assembly Language course which used the Z80 microprocessor and the GameBoy platform to introduce general concepts of computer architecture, machine and assembly language programming.

I wish every college/university offered introductory programming courses that used hardware such as the Game Boy.
It's nice that they keep a public record of everyone who signed out the carts and transfer devices.

I would love to take this class, I wish more schools offered classes like this.
I'm sorry to break the news, but the course was held in 2008, and there are no signs that it was renewed in 2009 or 2010. Cool nontheless.
Hi guys. I'm the guy that taught the Gameboy class at Wichita State University. Glad you think the class was cool. I had a blast teaching it. Unfortunately WSU didn't ask me to teach the class again so we weren't able to continue it after 2008.
@Jefftheworld: I'm curious what the silly mistake we made was that you refer to. Is it that we have full names of people who checked out the equipment? That doesn't seem like information that people can use for nefarious reasons.
Also thought I'd mention that the class final projects are on their assignments blog. The blog formatting got a little messed up on a botched Wordpress upgrade, but it is all still readable.

I'm probably just being paranoid, maybe I've just been reading too much 2600. I just feel uneasy when unnecessary personal info is available online. Especially because most of the those people probably don't realize their names are still publicly available there.
However, the course is an awesome thing to do. Welcome to the chipmusic scene. Wanna be a hero here? Program and release a nice music program! If you need any ideas, we'd be able to give you a lot to think about.

That is super neat. And yet unfortunate that the course is not offered anymore 
I took courses over at http://www.onlinecomputersciencedegree.com/ and they definitley didn't have anything like http://cratel.wichita.edu/blogs/assembl … y/project/ to offer! Do you plan on expanding this even though it's not at Wichita anymore?
