Every fan of Pulsewave surely has a favorite memory of the many events we have done over the past few years, but very few actually know the hard work that goes on to make such an event happen. Often working silently and without reward, the unsung heroes of the PWcrew make many sacrifices in time, energy and money to make sure every line-up is the best it can be. So when one of those unsung volunteers needs help, every single person who has ever enjoyed a night of Pulsewave should take heed.
Early on in it’s inception, one of the early regular fans was (to me) a suspicious looking punk kid named Facundo. He would often show up with drunk friends who often looked intimidating but rarely did anything serious enough to justify these suspicious and he soon became a fixture at every nearly every local event. Facundo started becoming more involved with the community as a musician and as a promoter and especially over the last year has become instrumental in curating and running a monthly event when more and more people “didn’t have the time”.
Over the summer, when touring as part of the TRANSAMERICAN CHIP TOUR 2O1O, Facundo ran into some trouble. When he was young, his family came to this country as visitors, but eventually a visit became a longer stay and they made this country their home. Facundo, while not a legal citizen of the US was undergoing the process to become a permanent resident when he was asked for his credentials on an Amtrak train in-between stops on the tour. Having none, he was taken into custody.
The unfortunate result of this is that he faces additional legal fees and hearings in order to stay here in the country and be an active part of our community. His family also relies on him for support and needs help in ensuring they use every available legal recourse available to them, so consider November’s edition of Pulsewave GETFACUNDOWAVE.
Proceeds from this event will go to help Facundo’s family in their legal fight to keep him in the Country. There will be merch raffles, an Auction Open Mic (Bid on your spot! Only Four!), and the following hand selected Facundo approved artists will be performing:

JUST ADDED! minusbaby!! // http://www.minusbaby.com/
Long-time 8bitpeoples member, minusbaby, born Richard Alexander Caraballo in New York City, serves nebulous ambrosia, blushing dissonance and surprises. While it may be impossible to predict what will happen at each performance, one constant can be expected: a forceful equatorial beat with a bassy bottom end to make anything bump and bounce that hasn't been tied down; exploding the very meaning of 8-bit orchestration.

Bit Shifter // http://bit.shifter.net/
An electronic musician based in New York City, Bit Shifter explores
high-impact, low-res music produced using primitive gear and synthesis
as a deliberate aesthetic choice. Adopting a distillation of the
less-is-more philosophy, Bit Shifter operates with a standard Nintendo
Game Boy as a means of exploring the aesthetics of economy, pushing
minimal hardware to its maximum.
He is also in it for the lolz.

La Belle Indifference // http://www.myspace.com/blissfullymediocre
La Belle Indifference is the name of a certain type of hysteria
characterized by a great lack of concern about physical failures or
limitations. Let’s say you a car crash made you completely paralyzed
below the waist, but you still wake up as a happy man who wants to go
skiing every morning. That’s La Belle Indifference.

Albino Ghost Monkey // http://www.facebook.com/AlbinoGhostMonkey
What is an Albino Ghost Monkey you ask? The Albino Ghost Monkey is a
strange and unique creature that can only be found in the Northwoods
region of Wisconsin. The Albino Ghost Monkey spends most of its time
using a tool known as “Nanoloop”, though nanoloop is not a good tool
for hunting (reassuring its short lifespan), it is on the other hand a
great tool for creating music. Expect this unique creature to push the
boundaries of nanoloop to its brink with its high engery live
performances and sheer love of music .

Visuals by invaderbacca // http://vimeo.com/album/247560
invaderbacca sees the colors that nobody sees. His approach to
visualizing the sounds surrounding him is almost sonic itself in
nature, whether he’s creating frenetic glitchnes sets or creating his
own spasmodic video blasts. He doesn’t live in a pineapple under the
sea.

As a community, we have overcome greater odds than this, so give one of our own a hand and show your appreciation for the hard work Pulsewave volunteers and curators have done to keep the events coming all these years.
