I just stumbled upon this awesome piece of software that does really extreme time stretching. You can create some really nice ambient soundscapes with it. I believe it was created by the same guy who made the ZynAddSubFX softsynth. Its called PaulStretch and is donationware, here is the link: hypermammut.sourceforge.net/paulstretch/
thought you guys might enjoy it, I am having some fun with it personally.
can anyone compile me a working mac osx version of this? I am unfortuanately too n00b to have ever got it working!
Isn't this the Bieber-slow-down thingy?
I thought it does sound pretty decent, although I don't have much use for it atm.
1. Write a 30 second piece of music
2. stretch it
3. ???
4. Become Boards of Canada
5. Profit

Try one of these, as appropriate:
Intel build
http://www.cornwarning.com/xfer/PaulStr
X-x386.dmg
PPC Build
http://www.cornwarning.com/xfer/PaulStretch-OSX-PPC.dmg
Paulstretch is fun to play with and I like the way it smooths out the resultant sound file, unlike many other time stretching tools what I don't like is all the extra reverb it seems to add. Now I'm definitely a reverb sort of guy, I make liberal use of it in my music, but I like to have a little more control over it.
^tyvm for compiling an intel mac version!
Actually compiled by chaircrusher but, yes many thanks to him for looking out for us Mac folks! I would have had neither the patience nor the know-how to compile this myself.
