8BC was closed, ostensibly for improper zoning usage. At the time, the event was widely rumored to have been prompted by the then-new nightclub the Palladium, whose owners had approached Conboy and Gattra about programming the Palladium's Michael Todd Room. The closure made the front page of the New York Times.
A lot of the people coming here are innocent. This is a time to welcome and encourage people to chipmusic.org rather than give then an excuse to turn away and fuel yet more dissent amongst the chip music community.

id also encourage new members to familiarize themselves with who the staff members are so you know who to ask if any questions/issues arise

8BC temporary visitors, you are welcome to visit one of the many chip netlabels & get to know some really cool/amazing artists which probably you never heard of because they don't release music in 8BC every single day/week/at all.....
