This is the first of two fundraiser events for April's Ultra Mega Awesome Extreme 5 music showcase, which will include 20 minute live sets from 15 insane (local and touring) acts, live projections and a professional sound system in a fully transformed space.
Please come out, show your support and help make it possible!
Entertainment includes two awesome out-of-towners:
...
Saskrotch (Chicago, IL) [http://www.myspace.com/saskrotch]
Musician, double label manager, and self proclaimed King of Chipbreak, Nigel Shields, aka Saskrotch, is a lovely young man from the village of almost-Chicago.
KKrusty (Chicago, IL) [http://www.kkrusty.com/]
Kkrusty (Mike Taylor) began making electronic music in 2004.
After experimenting with many styles, he discovered chiptune (music made using or emulating the sounds of outdated video game and computing hardware) and began composing songs on the Nintendo GameBoy in early 2008.
His music mixes sometimes sweet, sometimes epic melodies, pounding, danceable rhythms, (not to mention the occasional 80's hair-metal cover) and never fails to turn any room into a frothing mess of nuclear gleeful madness!
With local favorites:
Baron Knoxburry (Ann Arbor, MI) [http://b-knox.com/]
Smacking you with chiptune, ukulele, caribbean, synth pop, thrash and booty squeezing phattie beats.
A one-man-band musical amalgamation.
Anti-Cheat (Ann Arbor, MI) [http://www.myspace.com/anticheat]
Professional NES champion, Anti-Cheat began writing chiptunes for Battle of the Bits in 1981.
Sounds structurally like original 8-Bit Nintendo music and will bring you a serious dose of nostalgia.
And live 8-bit visuals projected by:
