Can you hook up a DMG to a pocket and synch up LSDJ between the two, or do I need another DMG?

You sure can. All you need is a link cable with both connector sizes.

as long as you have a dmg - > color / pocket link cable it'll work

there are existing cables that are cgb/mgb + dmg on one side and cgb/mgb on the other

@ spinning voices: Get one! I'm so excited to try writing with 4 more channels, I think it'll really give the artist a lot more room to work with than you'd expect.
