I am currently thinking of getting a kaoss quad or 3 to loop and add effects to my beatboxing. However I have a few questions I can't find the answer to
1. Is the pad all I need to loop on multiple layers/channels?
2. Which is better for this the 3 or quad
3. Is it best to use a laptop or can I use literally just the pad mic an amp?
I anyone can answer any of these questions I would be very greatful thank you
1. I believe it is. Never used KP3 tho.
2. Only the KP3 can wok with loops (4 loops in sync).
3. You can use KP3 + mic, no need for laptop.
Wait for someone with personal experience to confirm this
if you want to keep the KP3 in time with other things (drums etc) I wish you the best of luck. Though the effects are great, The looper is not a key feature and only stays in time with itself, I found it very frustrating as it fell out of sync (even with a solid midi clock going in) within a few bars and sent it back a couple of days later as that was my main interest in the device.
No idea about the Quad though. I hoe they fix the issue as it would make the pad essential in my book.

I confirm everything.
I've never tried the kaoss quad, but a cheaper KP3 would perfectly do the job.
About the sync problem, as already said the KP only stays in time with itself. But it wouldn't be a problem if you only need it to loop some voice samples live.
Btw for hardcore looping (if you don't care too much about the KP effects) I'd recomend differents solutions, like some guitar/voice looping pedals.
My singer uses one of them and it seems pretty easy (and fun) to use.
This way you could use infinite layers, not only 4.
When in doubt, watch MC Xander tear it up with a couple o' KP3s! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGWaKvllVVw
Actually nevermind I'm dumb and forgot he uses other shit for looping. But still watch this video.

Didn't know that! All my thoughts about potentially getting KP3 are over.
the big guitar looper pedals are cool and powerful now
Eventide Time Factor. Not the cheapest, but fucking fantastic for MIDI sync.

I mean that the "beat-sync" is not the best, but it works pretty well on "4/4 kicks" songs.
And, as said, if you would only use it with your voice (and no other beats coming from the line-in) it will keep the sync really well since it doesn't need to beat-sync wirg other stuff, but just with its internal tempo.
my advise. just dont get any kind of kaoss pad. i hate them. that is all.
have yew even seen / heard beardyman?
dual kp3 beatboxing madness!!!
