Game Boy DMG mods: Which are compatible? (Page 1) - Tutorials, Mods & How-To's - Forums

Hey, I was thinking about modding my DMG and I wanna go all out. Here are the mods I want to use:

- batt_dmg : shows when the battery is low (http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/batt_dmg)
- V³ Triple LED Backlight : Just a backlight (http://www.nonelectronics.com/catalog/i … 4s2u26h904)
- Pro sound 1/8" jack : Better sound, either an easy prebuilt pcb (http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/pc … -pro-sound) or the classic one (http://www.nonelectronics.com/catalog/i … 4s2u26h904)

Also, I'm painting my case, changing the buttons and replacing the screen protector. I don't think this would be a problem, since it doesn't involve current.

So, what do you guys and girls think?

Yep, no conflicts. The only real "conflicts" are with space, and three mods isn't too much to cram inside. Check out NeX's work to see how much crap you can cram into a gameboy.

I've also done two 1/4" jacks and a pitch mod in one gameboy, that was interesting.

p.s. Nonfinite's backlights are nice, but I'm really partial to the new 3xLED design that kitsch sells, designed by him and Apeshit. They're super easy to install and there's no fiddling with the resistor, very little cutting of plastic. Both models look great though.

I also hate those round 1/8" jacks - they like to spin on the case, and it's hard to tighten them down on the gameboy case because there's very little room for a wrench. Either get the fancy kit (if you're good with a dremel), or find a square part. I have a ton of them and could sell you one extremely cheap - $1 + the cost of shipping (and packaging, haha), just PM me.

V^3 backlight doesn't need the battery indicator to be removed, so there's no need for the bat_DMG. (Sorry Kitsch, lol.)

batt_DMG isn't a battery indicator. its a low-battery indicator. the light is illuminated ONLY when the battery drops below a certain point indicating they need to be changed or recharged...

so, its still relevant it serves a totally different function than the normal power light, which simply indicates its on. this indicates the batteries are low.

From what I've gathered, With the V³ you don't have to cut any plastic away.
