I got something like this for $35 minus the 1/4 inch jack, and it included shipping. If I were you, I would just consider any offer over $50. Clean mod though

The grommet is a very nice touch and the overall work is super clean! But i have to admit I'd be afraid of that fiddly fumbly molded 1/4" connector permanently attached to my $100 gameboy. Seems like a likely point of failure, no matter how high the quality of your work otherwise.

The grommet prevents the cable from coming out or from being damaged by the body of the case. If the cable were mounted without the grommet, there would be issues of the plastic cutting into the cable or the cable being pulled out.
I have found that using a cable vs. a mounted jack much advantageous for live performances. My friends have had issues in the past with their prosound jacks that were mounted to the cases because the stereo jack would get jostled around too much and it would cause the audio signals to get grounded out. With the cable, the point where the connection is made from the wires from mixers or audio equipment would be moved further away from the body of the gameboy allowing for a good connection without having any worries of hissing or noise coming from any channels grounding out.
Current Audio Connections are:
Prosound RCA Left and Right
Prosound 1/4" Stereo Jack
1/8" Headphone Jack

$35 is one hell of a deal!
Factors of the total cost of GBCs I mod are:
Cost of GBC
GBA SP AGS-001
cost of RCA Jacks
cost of 1/4" Stereo Connector cables (they come 6' long!)
cost of a New Screen
labor and misc including resistors and electronic equipment.
I used to sell a lot of my first generation modifications awhile for rather cheap because I was using cheap parts, but since then, started using better quality cables, jacks, etc.

Sorry erm, that's not really what I meant. I think the grommet is great, and a nice touch I haven't seen anyone else taking the time to add - but I'm talking about the OTHER end, the permanently molded on 1/4" connector. When those fail, they're unrepairable and just need to be replaced - and for me, they have a history of failure. I feel like it's worth the extra effort to use a short length of mic cable attached to a nice Switchcraft or Neutrik connector - but hey I'm anal about this stuff, I know most people don't care - and of course this would bring the cost up quite a bit, and people clearly already don't understand the value of good work and decent parts.

I can tell you that either you paid too much for your parts, did not select them carefully, or you are seriously charging too much. A GBA SP or Nintendo DS should be super cheap (the trick to getting these mods to sell fast is buying busted SP's as you see them pop cheap upon Craigslist or eBay), maybe $20, and the GBC and parts maybe $25 at most. You are still charging a bit too much.

Well, if you aren't happy with my pricing, you by no means have to buy it yourself.
I've been modifying gameboys for a little over a year now. I started using cheap parts but have since started using better quality parts to mod with.
I had no idea that you were the person that ultimately decides what everything costs, but in my opinion, people that complain about pricing are people that don't have a keen sense for quality. I feel that my gameboys are priced well for the quality of work and attention to detail taken.
Sure, this CGB is quite a bit more expensive compared to your $35 one, but I modify all my gameboys so it will be the last one you will ever need. If any of my customers have any issues with my gameboys when they receive them (which I have yet to come across), I fix them free of charge. All my gameboys are modified for practicality.
Again, if you aren't happy with my pricing, you are more than welcome to go elsewhere. I ask you to please not clutter my sale thread with complaints unless you've had issues with a gameboy I have sold to you in the past.

I believe that is fairly obvious. I do understand that I was able to sell my first generation modifications ~$75-$80 shipped very well, but since have started using better quality parts.
I've seen a number gameboys go bad after a few months of use due to poor quality work done to them. My products have yet to have any issues after purchase. I put a lot of pride and hard work into each piece. Every gameboy I sell I test for straight week to make sure it does not have any issues before putting them up for sale.
If I were selling a gameboy with cheap parts and less than stellar electrical work that would go out after 6 months, I would definitely lower the price.
Also to note: I give all my returning customers discounts on further purchases of modified gameboys.

I'd just like to point out that I know this guy personally and I've used Game Boys that he has modded live...the quality is top notch. No one bitches when Nonfinite charges ridiculous prices and then sends out literally the worst mod jobs imaginable with zero quality control, yet a guy who makes probably the cleanest and most functional Game Boy mods I've seen and also has impeccable customer service skills gets shit for charging $100 for a loaded GBC...I can't even think of too many places that offer these mods for GBC. And that is probably the brightest front lit screen I've seen on a color...
