Hello, I'm really new to all of this and hopefull for christmas I will be receiving this.

And because I really just started learning about LSDJ this week, I was wondering if that link (http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/usb-64m-smart-card) is actually an LSDJ cartridge? It says USB 64m smart card, and please remember that I'm reaaaally nooby, so does that mean that it's a gameboy cartridge that has LSDJ on it?

If you provide proof of purchase, he'll flash LSDJ onto it for you.  You can buy LSDJ at http://littlesounddj.com/lsd/ .

It's a flash cart, so you can put whatever ROM you want on it (like lsdj). It comes with an lsdj sticker, and he'll flash it for you if you contact him with proof of purchase. If you have a Windows system, it's quite easy to put it on yourself and copy saves and ROMs to and fro. I have one and its been working great.

Okay thank you guys, what do I need to put roms onto it exactly and is there a way to do it on a Mac OS?

Just a USB to mini-USB cable, the software comes with it. As for using a Mac, this (http://lacklustre.net/redmine/projects/ems-flash/wiki) might work, I don't know how well though. If not, just install VirtualBox with the Windows Developer Preview (It's free)

They used to make actual LSDJ carts way back in the day, but they have really old versions of the software. This is preferable because you flash news versions of LSDJ onto the cart and back up the .sav (Song Data).

Yes! This is hand-down the best option to use when flashing ROMS to the 64M cart.
Free, easy, quick, and a no-brainer (doesn't need fancy virtualisation etc etc)

So... How do I do it? Type something into terminal...? I'm not quite sure what the readme was saying...

Yes, you run the commands it says in a terminal.

Okay okay. And I know gameboy/gameboy color games work on the GameBoy Advance/SP, and I'm pretty sure this will too but just to make sure: Does the Smart Card work on the GameBoy Advance also?

I'm fairly certain that all of the information that you have been seeking in this thread is available elsewhere with just a little bit of searching. You are not anywhere near the first person to have asked these questions.

To answer your question, yes; I've personally used it on the SP several times. I have however heard that some issues occur due to the somewhat abnormal size, but I've also heard that a small dot of hot glue in the center of the cart (there's a little indent) should stop those issues.

Okay so I've tried to flash it onto the cart on the mac with the EMS-flasher, I'm trying to read the README and what it says online and I just can't figure out exactly how to do it.... I've been looking around everywhere and whenever I enter the commands it says it just doesn't work, I really need a step-by-step tutorial of how to do this on a mac and I can't find one, basically. Can anyone help?

Hey mate, we have an IRC channel on esper.net called #chipmusic. If you want some more realtime answers head on over and I'd be happy to help. I think it'll be quicker because we might need to do a little troubleshooting which will be easier in a chat smile
