So I am in desperate need of adding visuals of some kind to my live set.
I am, however, without an artist capable of doing live visuals with me.

That being said, is there something (software, etc) that I could use to automate visuals via projector?

thanks for the help

I'm not suggesting that this would be a good idea but if you send your audio to a video input you'll get something like this:

(don't know how to embed video from Facebook...)

You also make something in Processing: http://processing.org/

Modul8 is pretty simple if you're on a Mac.

I know the boys over at Starscream use Quartz Composer for their visuals.

The Atari Video Music is neat but rare. This is a terrible video of what its output looks like, but gives you the basic idea.

Also Run/DMG recently unearthed a music visualizer for the Tandy computer. No idea how scarce it is though.

I would love to get my hands on that Audio Spectrum Analyzer for the TRS-80.
Tandys are fairly useless without the sound cart.
I programmed it to run as a keyboard once but it had about a full second of latency.
I NEED THIS! It would make my Tandy good for something!

Sometimes you can put the audio signal from a RCA into a TV or something like that, it generates glitch-looking shit.

yep, quartz composer is not really something that you can just click go on and let it go. but it is incredibly easy to get it to do what you want.
so if you're interested in actually creating your own visuals quartz is a good way to go on mac

Very cool. Thank you for the links and advice guys!
I've got 3 or 4 shows coming up in the next 2 months, and I'll be sure to post up some video so you can take a look at what I end up with!
