What type of video does the GP2X output? I see that the cradle has an s-video socket but all the home made cables I've seen just have rca? So is it s-video or composite or are they the same or...? Duh?

RCA ands svideo are slightly different ways to send the same signal, just svideo splits color data for better color quality...
here is the pinout

and http://www.instructables.com/id/S-Video Connecter/
I think you can just combine chroma and y and youll get not as good composite.

If you need a serial cable to make your own video out, let me know as I've got one sitting around

I may do that. First I'm going to try and get a video out put into an already built piggy=>midi cable.
Its totally different with each other on the basis of video quality output.
THere are composite video cables on eBay. Haven't seen any SVideo ones though, makes me wish I didn't sell mine with my F200.
svideo is available on the cradle, and i believe the official video out had it as well but its been a long time since I owned one!
I had a video cable that was SVideo. I guess it was the official one? It also worked in the Caanoo (with no audio)
Yea I think that was what I ahd as well. Isnt svid jsut composite with a few extra sync pins connected anyways.
Pretty much, yes... good to know the official cable gets video out of caanoo, makes me happy that no one bought it when I was going to sell it
