ok, made a few minor changes to gameplay and cleaned up the code a bit. It's still pretty narly, but clear enough to see how most of the things work.
Anybody have tips for making sprites not transparent?

I'll probably be pretty busy till the end of next week, then I can clean it up a bit (it was very much a learning experience for me) then share the source with anyone who's interested.
