His stuff would kick ass for a video game! smile

I agree. I really, really like Farewell My Friend. I wish I could find a place for Sky Runner Alpha because it just rocks too, but it sounds too futuristic for my game, I think.

Some of my later tracks there. Most were written with RPGs in mind.

Ok, I really know nothing about music composition so I'll try not to sound like a total idiot: Virtually the entire album (Utter Mess) is awesome. A lot of it has so much texture and variety, and I love how you do the breakdowns. To me, switching up the pace or reducing and then adding elements throughout the songs like you do really make it more... interesting? just better? Makes me pay attention more, contrast is always good. With that being said, the last 2 tracks are pretty mellow in comparison, makes sense though. Anyway, you definitely should be producing albums like this. Your stuff is definitely mature enough.

Do I have license to use them? Should I just let you know which ones I can use and where?

I've PM'ed you some pieces that I feel are somewhat relevant to this project, be sure to respond with your thoughts.  I'm still doing that crazy Lazerscale2010 project where I have to write something new every day, so let me know if there's something you like that's not quite there yet - I've got a little over 200 more songs to do before the year is through.  o_o

Thanks I'll check them out. That project sounds masochistic, but I sure as hell bet you'll come out of it better.

If you could e-mail me a list of areas (and any necessary outlines for the music of those areas you think are appropriate) I can get to work for you. If you can get someone here to write a battle track (the thing I admit to being worst at), then I can write what you need. I'm not in university at the moment, so I can get started right away. What sort of timeframe do you have to write the game (how long do I have to write)?

Will do, thank you man. I have until the end of August.

I've just about finished writing the soundtrack to an RPG (I've PMed you a link to the full thing). I'd be willing to write you something if you'd be interested in my style.

Ok, I haven't listened to the whole list yet but I just had to say... you rock man. That first track is epic. The others I've listened to, you have such a good variety, and you really convey certain stuff through your music (like the betrayal, death, battle). I really feel that. And you seem to have a great handle on output size, which is important for game development usually. Any of the tracks I've listened to so far would fit into my theme.

I'd be honored to work with you. I bet it would help you if you could play through some of my game. I don't have much variety in area yet, overall I'm about 25% done. I'm working on the major systems right now, leveling next. Usually straight up level creation is the last to be done but I have a general outline of areas/bosses/goals on paper. Let me know how you wanna proceed.

The first one looks like it's being incorporated into a game already? Well, even if not it sounds futuristic so I'm not sure if it will fit yet. That 2nd track is perfect man, very good stuff and I appreciate it.

Nice consistent artwork there, out of curiosity is this Flash based? I can never really tell these days (not like it matters).

Thank you so much. It is not flash-based. Surprisingly (or not), it is being made in Gamemaker 8. Of course, the iphone version will not be, but GM is the tool available to me right now. Since I'm doing all the coding, art/animation, and sound fx, I had to stick with what I knew being under a deadline (end of August).

Thanks man, I'll work through listening to that list you PMed me. I really appreciate that.

You know, I used to live on Sycamore Drive... is that weird or some awesome cosmic coincidence?

Wow... just, wow. And I've only listened to the first 2 tracks. Wow. Thank you so much man, I'll let you know what I use but these are really off the hook!

Thank you!

Hi everyone. I stumbled across this site looking for sound fx for my current project and instead found some seriously sweet tunes by you all. I would love to solicit contributions of some groovy original chiptunes for incorporation into this kick-ass game project I'm working on in my free time. Right now it's for a comp, but I plan on developing an iphone version if it's received well enough.

It's a brick breaker RPG game, with leveling, spell-gathering, money-grubbing, enemy-smiting, boss battles, lots of block-smashing, and much more. As you can see it's pixelly, current sound effects are little 8-bitty stuff I made in SFXR.

Any length is fine for loops, as long as they loosely fit into the overall retro RPG theme. I need music for title screen, overworld map, end game, forest levels, desert, dungeon, battle, castle, town, graveyard levels, and short little loops for level up!, win level, fail level, boss battles, etc.

So, shoot me some tunes! I'm sure I can find a spot for as little or as much as you're willing to contribute. You'll be properly credited and besides, wouldn't it be cool to have your stuff in a game?

B.
