Same idea since I met a similar YouTube play error the other day. Some YouTube videos won't play on my Chrome and repeatedly give me the message like "an error occurred, please try again". While there's no such problem on Firefox.
So as for the problem that YouTube not working on Chrome, how about remove the Ad-Block. Some said this is helpful. Or how about these guides:
