hell yez - if you need quality sample packs, I have a lot of ripped samples and patches from classic games.  I have a pretty good method going now.

just crack it open and look for the 2A03 chip.  I forget which pins the squares and tri/DPCM/noise are...  I think you can probably find that info on emu-docs.org.  You can wire up the two points on the chip and the two grounds (or daisy chain with one ground point coming off).  It is probably good to put a signal diode (something like a 1N4001) or a fuse on each of the lines before it heads into the rca jack to prevent reverse current from blowing the 2A03.  the 2A03 is much more delicate than the Gameboy sound chip.

I put one of these into the Genesis model 3 I bought at 8static Fest (the model 3 doesn't have stereo output unless you add an additional amp, so I figured why not get something good?)
Installation was pretty straight forward, the image guides on the Sega-16 forums show exactly which components need to be removed from the Genesis PCB and the soldering points to use.  It didn't specify a place to connect the 5V and GND, though: I went with the same connection points as the standard audio amp.

It sounds niiiiice. I went with the unfiltered version of helder's PCB version of the amp, and I'm glad because I love how clear the high end is compared to a typical Genesis.
Here's an audio recording from my setup: the main table theme from Dragon's Fury:

MP3: http://chromelodeonarchive.com/misc/Dra … 0Table.mp3

yo that sounds nice - you should record Mega Turrican if you can - the bass is much more apparent in that soundtrack (not that this one isn't siiiick).  The top end on this recording is really fucking clean but I'm missing some of the bass (thankfully when I EQ it...  wow).  Genny 3 is probably the cleanest / most noiseless out of the box.  It's also the most reliable in terms of playback for live stuff.  I've tried all three.

the screen toggle mod basically shuts the entire front PCB off so just look for the power coming into the front PCB and stick a switch where the power lead is.  If I remember correctly its just a red and white/black wire that you can see clear as day.

ah the nomad... so much bass and also a really REALLY shitty signal to noise ratio.  here's a mod i found before i realized you can replace the whole screen.  i installed a switch that cuts power to the screen.  this mod is really cheap and removes about 50-60% of the noise in the damn thing.  with a capacitor replacement i think this thing will be fully operational.  so much noise is produced by these old, dead electrolytic caps.

Sorry to triple post lol.  The railing system in playback for the YM2612 is crazy (sort of like the Namco 163 for NSF heads).  Maybe you can set some glitch options to mess with those parameters.  Also - being able to access the SSG-EG in the effects column would be nice too.

Hey - one suggestion - When you have a volume column please let it change ONLY the volumes of heard TL levels (not the TL of the modulators).  This is a major annoyance in work flow for me with TFM, VGM Music Maker, and Defelmask.  Echo is my bread and butter and having to use an effects column for it (sometimes 2 or 3) is really annoying to keep track of if you are switching volumes.

This is really cool. Any chance of putting PCM samples on that thing?

Not just yet of course, but when the tracker gets at a later stage DAC support will be added.

Keep the suggestions coming guys. We might even be able to do Mouse/Keyboard support.

Mouse / Keyboard - wow yes pleez.  loading in other patches and samples is necessary too i suppose.  OMG i can't wait for this to get mo' developed.

Keep in mind this is a Sega development forum, so try to keep things dev related.
And... sorry for the lack of updates in two years.
