I really wish I had synesthesia. It seems so cool!!!! I have Tourettes Syndrome and some other stuff (OCD, ADHD, Aspergers) but no synesthesia.

Although sometimes when i think about the different elements in a song and try to isolate them in my mind, I think of shapes and colours of each element. But that's probably not anything like synesthesia...

Sometimes these rare genetic differences can be interesting. Like those people that have differently-coloured eyes or vestigial tails.

I can't wait for transhumanism to be a real thing so I can grow a tail or an antennae or whatever!!!!!

i used to wish i had perfect pitch but you know what ive noticed from teaching - having it may give you a shitty work ethic - you just get everything so someimes music doesnt sound interesting and it can seem like very unmystical and sort of obvious. I tried those "get perfect pitch cds which really only helped my relative pitch.  also a lot of music teachers dont catch it and the student will blow through shit with little practice - in the end they never get a good work ethic.  I think most people with perfect pitch actually get bored by music because it sounds so simple - no mystery.  Certain people break through that though.  there are probably a ton of executives and mail men out there with perfect pitch that have no idea.  I'd say deal with what you got - make it the best you can and you will find individuality.   although i am 100% for transhumanism and trans anything.

astrology vrs. the scientific method.  try it!

lol.

being familiar with more than just one music scene (and also being a music teacher) - i can tell you there is something about people with synthesthesia being drawn to chip music.  I know 3 chip musicians that have it and another that basically has perfect pitch.  Although both of the synesthetics had problems with it when they were young.  Imagine being in a group of people talking and there is like a disco going off in your eyes.  I figure its something like the mutants in X-Men.  Some of the mutants can't control their powers and eventually wind up killing themself or others (or joining the brotherhood of evil mutants) - some actually streamline their ability and turn into ridiculous heros (or ridiculous musicians).  The disease does not make you a great musician - that is only achieved through a shit ton of work.  I personally have ADD and it's a pain in the ass mostly however, there is this hyperfocus thing that can happen.  I attribute that mode to any success i've had in music or art.  So moral of the story is - everyone has something fucked about them.  You can either make that fucked up part a positive thing or a negative thing.  For me and probably most people on this forum - we spin our problems into a positive thing.

oh yea and fuck pseudo science.

Left to right: cat, the charleston, voguing, tutting and... reeling it in?

never even thought about it but yea i guess you're right!

this is not a question to be criticized for.  it's a common occurrence and also the evil flip side of Creative Commons.  Idiots that don't understand the rules think they can grab whatever they want from the internet.  So being sarcastic to this member of the community for asking an intelligent question is just that - pretty stupid.  go back to your "how do I dress up my gameboy" posts.

and also all the idgf posts are pretty unintelligent and fuel the fire for this type of activity - if someone does something with your music that you don't like (and you are still living) - do something about it.  It's fucking wrong to steal music no matter how its made or what time period we live in.  Uploading content and then monetizing it is the same thing as stealing someone's food.

to answer your question:
ask for l00t - make them feel guilty - no answer...  threaten to sue - everyone loves that - even if you don't have the cash on hand!  seems to be the only way to actually motivate people in this country.  To protect yourself you can Trademark your "band" name or legally copyright your songs along side the creative commons license.  This will give you tons of leverage before you even start to take legal action - it will serve as a deterrent.  Anyone stealing music only cares about money - so threatening that way always drives the point home.

Also - for people that say that giving music away for free is stupid.  You are not very intelligent because you wouldn't be making chip music today if kind composers had not freely shared their music and let people look at their source.  Open Source and openness leads directly to increased creativity.  There is a direct scientific correlation.  Where it might not be the best for your pocket, it is amazing to take place in a giant river of freely downloadable chip music.

What iOS apps?

My favorite is the Grix but i like Sprite Something, Dot Touch, Dots, C64paint  - be aware there are some really bad pixel art programs in the app store that wind up aliasing the shit out of everything once its exported.

this thread gives me so much art energy - 100king at all the amazing stuff.

some stuff i've been working on:

Gm pentatonic, Bb Maj pentatonic, G blues, G phrygian scale too.

you can also treat the whole thing like a G7(#9) chord (the "hendrix" chord) and put diminished tonalities all over it depending on the rhythm.  As long as you land on a chord tone your phrase will sound "finished."  G half whole diminished will work.

you can also treat the whole thing as though its implying a Galt chord which is any combination of #9,b9,#5,b5 on a dom7 chord and in that case you can get away with the 7th mode of Ab melodic minor or G locrian(b4).

Or you could switch scales on each chord and use a variety.
