Either EQ, prosound mod it, or just embrace the noise 8-) - isn't that the point of using these things anyway?

depends on the type of licensing you and the client agree upon for the track based upon how it will be used

They're p much the same thing, but with tables he'd have to have some type of visual display showing you what's going on which would raise the amount of work and the cost

Instead of Tables like LSDJ, it might be easier (and more congruent to the NES, like Famitracker) to have some type of MML Editor in the instrument settings and like a calculator number pad to enter in a value.
Think of like a button that turns on a "Pulse Width mode," and you enter in "0121" on the number pad, which essentially works as a command to have the synth play a pulse that sweeps between duty cycles of 12.5% (0) - 25% (1) - 50% (2) - 12.5% (1). And then, a knob to control the speed of that looping cycle.
Other modes could be like "Arpeggio," where the values are just semitones. Like 037 for a minor triad. Negative numbers to pitch downward too. 0 -12 would be bouncing up and down between a note and it's octave below

Whoops, I just heard someone talk about groovebox and I got too excited, haha. Looks like you were more talking about an actual synth instead of a complex sequencer here
Considering synths, I'm all about super small, portable, and battery powered for sure. 1/4" out if it's mono, too. For pots/sliders, obviously something to change the waveform and maybe a vibrato knob. Since it's in mono, a knob to control glide amount would be kinda rad. Buttons to switch the octave. If you throw in an arpeggiator, I'd love a tap tempo. Of course this means that the unit now needs to have some sense of time and BPM. And if there now is some sense of time, sync in/out would be amazing. If you aren't interested in doing a MIDI sync, consider using a CV Gate. The synth would just have to send out a short pulse blip on each quarter note for the Sync Out and accept a similar signal for the Sync In.

theres not many chiptune ```setups''' that are any good for improvisation so i think that would be a cool niche that you could target instead of just making some box you plug a midi cable into and then it goes bloop
also this is very very true

if you could make an NES groove station that would be sweet. if it was made like in the elektron style of machines like the analog 4 and analog rytm you would have a solid live performance tool.
A hardware 16 step system with parameter locking, LFOs for the pulse triangle and noise channels for pitch/dutycycle/amplitude, envelopes for pitch and amplitude , and mono mode where you could combine the 2 or even 3 channels for detuning/thickening/multiple layered sounds, channel seperation stereo mod on the chip for seperate processing and routing, and finally importable samples for durms etc. add midi in/out and you would be done and have a live beast for jamming with.
Another route is to build it like a monophonic synth that could stack all 5 layers of pulse/tri/noise/dpmc. Add Lfo's and envelopes to control parameters and add midi control.
I personally am way more into the groove box idea.

The more you post, the further you seem to be sinking into depression, I've been looking into stuff in older threads here, and your posts from like 2011 and before are pretty normal.
Every chiptune veteran has a history that can be divided into two halves: "happy" and then evolving into "anti-happy"

Heh, he's having a laugh - he's referring to how we always seem to be bitching about somebody/something on here
