my 2 cents : on 8bc i almost never listened to the #1 voted song because I could expect typical hype chip, I was always listening to the 4th 5th and 6th of the week or whatever, thats where the real unique quality chip lived

Okay okay okay, now that we've established that we all have our heads up our own ass...

...Musical theory is going to be very much the same on LSDJ, guitar, piano or any other instrument, as far as notation is concerned. First thing is first. Learn about Major and Minor keys. If you learn nothing else, that will be enough.

Now, as you do some research on lsdj and other forms of chiptune, you'll find that limited hardware will prevent you from actually forming chords. So, you'll have to find ways to deceive your listeners.

I'm not going to go into the details here, and just fyi, the reason a lot of these guys are giving you sarcastic remarks is that the info is pretty readily available if you do a quick forum search or look up some very basic lsdj tutorials... which you should do, actually.

Anyway, though, good luck and remember, practice is key!

As I was reading the thread in its entirety, I came across esc's comment about how cm.org is ran by several ex-8bc admins. That being the case, I probably would have to vote against the institution of a chart type system. No one will know more about its dangers than they.

...But I'll repeat my earlier comment that I do believe chiptunes NEEDS a chart. Maybe more like beatport.com's? And let's face it, chiptuner's have EVERY RIGHT to get jealous/butthurt/flamey/whatever, and restricting that behavior only works so well because it'll still manifest in different ways (plz see andrew's comment above this one, haha! heart u, andy).

I can't help but wonder if maybe some of 8bc's old developers could be persuaded to create a seperate site from chipmusic for such a thing? Like, a hub for new releases and chart hits. Again, kind of like a beatport.com

charts on 8bc lead to tons on flame wars, people creating 30-40 accounts to boost their track to the top....

Haha, was that really a thing? I started chooning right on the tail end of 8bc's existence.

This might not be such a big deal if 8bc was still around. I think the chip scene does need a "chart" but, I suppose the better question is "Is chipmusic.org the place to hold such a thing?"

i know that 2xaa's uCollective.org has a top 3 of the week kind of thing, maybe it's more suited to the task?

Haha, also probably this. (I know I've been guilty of it! Haha!)

FANS.

Can't have a scene that's not entirely about mutual cocksucking without them.

If anything, those votes should count more.

Silly George, no one actually listens to chiptunes.

Okay! And now the poster with the correct date on it, haha!

and about hotels! So, we've checked with a bunch of hotels, and turns out there is a big sports-type game in town that weekend, so hotels aren't having problems getting booked up. That being said.... probably no discounts this year. Sadface.

depending on how well i can keep it under wraps, i will be debuting new material at this show!

Well, there goes that, I guess. XD

Yes! It IS July, I just noticed, haha! But the designer is already on the problem! Can't believe I didn't notice that, haha.

edit: I'm gonna leave this pic up until we get the correct one though, so people can see its sexy.

Just noticed the date on those posters was wrong. Dammit.

(Triple post?! OMG. What a dick I am.)

HEY HEY HEY!!! How 'bout you come out to BRK and pick up one of these gnarly ass posters?! We'll probably sell 'em on the website too.

Tentative schedule! I'd say look forward to it within a week or so.
