ya, I had the idea as I was building it because I had the LED's next to me on my desk so I thought, hey ive never seen that before im going to try it out!
Tetrasaurus wrote:Ok I seen this in a thread on 8bc, pretty neat-o. As for the power supply its the 5V right?
yup 5v power, also can you link me to the thread? I have never seen this done before
Tetrasaurus wrote:Total noob when it comes to modding buttons. How did you get the leds into the buttons? And is the power source the 5V?
very small surface mount LED's (about 1mmx1mm) and I drilled a space out for them in the buttons and hot glued them in, as for the control pad, I sanded it down and made a new rocker ball out of hot glue encasing the LED
kitsch wrote:they've always been this price, unless i made a typo at some point
I'm pretty sure I just misread it as 13 bucks before lol
Apeshit wrote:asneakyfatcat wrote:ya, I was thinking about adding some (only problem is that they are expensive)
The clear buttons? They're insanely cheap taking into consideration the cost of the mold.
wait what, they are only 3 bucks now??? I could have sword that they used to be over ten bucks last time I checked... (which was a couple of weeks ago) In that case Im going to order some as soon as paypal lets my ebay cash clear!
Frostbyte wrote:No clue I think I broke the bottom right corner by pulling too hard...I was doing it in a rush so it makes sense haha. I've gotta post pictures soon haha
ya, post pics I want to see what it looks like
Frostbyte wrote:I actually have something similar, and I messed up the screen when I backlit it so it looks like I threw it in a freezer for a long time haha
As annoying as it is to write with a messed up screen...honestly, i like the effect it makes visually haha
lol, how did you manage to do that?
Frostbyte wrote:looks sweet!
thanks!
kitsch wrote:hopefully not too much longer! just waiting on samples, twiddling thumbs...
you should add some clear silicon start/select buttons, and illuminate them too
ya, I was thinking about adding some (only problem is that they are expensive), but when I started building this gameboy I did not have the buttons planned, I just saw some smd's on the table next to me and decided to slap them in!
kitsch wrote:that looks wonderful!
thanks, I used the clear buttons and new screen cover from your store, btw how long untill the clear cases?
Just a little something I whipped up before going on a road trip, I used smd LED's and 30 gauge wire, so it was damn hard to solder together, I think it turned out to be really good!
katsumbhong wrote:Plug the prosound into a powered speaker unit.
When I plug my prosound into my line in, it is much louder and cleaner than the headphone port, and the bass has a lot more depth to it
Frostbyte wrote:Lol, hey, doing mods are fun too. Don't hate!
Personally, the only things worth it are prosound and backlight. But if you want cool paint ideas I could come up with something for you.
for this one I don't think I'm going to paint the case, im just going to leave it as is
kitsch wrote:capcomposer painted the case
thnx
FS is a dmg-01 with pro sound, neon green buttons, chiptune in stereo screen, black chain case by Capcomposer, and a green inverted backlight.
asking $60 or best offer
Would also trade, I really want an original NES, shoot me some offers
wedanced wrote:you could... leave it stock and just use the damn thing.
ya, but whats the fun in that?
