Great release! Wish I still had a tape deck! May have to get one for stuff like this.

yeah, it feels like there are a lot of new, interesting labels that are doing the "limited casette"-thing

New stuff, made with nanoloop and a Casio SK-5! Released on the wonderful cassette label Reckno!

"must dissolve took me by surprise in it's microscopic attention to detail, echoing some of the weirdest (and most beautiful) early Mego releases like Fridge Tracks.
Play it at low volume for a soothing melt out or turn it up for the full textured rub down.
Using tools often associated with chiptunes Biographs creates a porous, gridless and organic sound world bubbling
with fizz, hiss and distortion. At times like the romantic hum of a far off plane engine at other times like a snowflake melting in your ear.

Edition of 50 pro dubbed grey tapes"

Some moments in this reminds me of Fas 2-era Pluxus as well as Cluster (especially zuckerzeit). Awesome!

That's a cool set up. It's got a really loose and crunchy sound, like burial sort of. I like the sparsity too.

Thanks! When I bought the Casio I didn't really plan for it to replace the DMG; I just thought that it, since it's so small and cheap, would be good to play around with to find melodies and chord progressions, but I ended up liking the sound so much that I put it in my set up. The reason I had to replace the DMG was because I have limited channels on my mixer (and I also like being limited to a certain amount of channels; it's a part of my creative process (and I guess many other chipmusicians) to try to work within these limited borders, and this creativity within limited channels is also one of the charms with  chipmusic I think).

just to confirm, notations is 2.3 whilst notes is 2.1, not a typo?

soz 4 been music tech geek

No. actually, Notations was made with NL 2.3 and LSDJ, while Notes was made with NL 2.3 and a Casio SK-5 using samples from the 2.3 (there's also guitar on the last track).

Thanks, glad to hear you guys enjoy the music!

About the "lost tracks" on 8bc: if someone didn't get the chance to download the songs I uploaded to 8bc before it went down, and  feel like it would be nice to have them on the hard drive; send me a message through the site with your e-mail and i'll mail them to you (or if you have a better idea i'm open to suggestions).

Thanks for the response! I will check out these artists.

As some of you may know, the virtual pop- band Gorillaz released their third full length album in march 2010. I have of course listen trough the album, but as with their previous album "Demon Days" I were quite disappointed. You see; Gorillaz's self- titled debut album from 2001, was the first "real" music album I bought. I was eight years old at the time and have loved it ever since. The reason of my disappointment after listening to Demon Days and now Plastic Beach is the lack of the dubby- pop sound (Starshine, Soundcheck (Gravity), Tomorrow comes today, etc.) that I fell in love with in 2001.
So to the question: does anyone know of any bands/artists who plays/makes this kind of pop- dub- electronica, similar to the sound of Gorillaz's first album?
