I really enjoy this, it's very unique and your voice fits it well, you can really hear the Smashing Pumpkins influence.
Only Sickly on the Outside is amazing!

Thanks again to everyone who was nice and introduced me to some new artists,
I was not attempting to come off as a "know-it-all" as I know very little about the creation process of any of this music,
and the only kind of musical training I've had were 2 years of piano lessons when I was a child, which I loathed.
I'm still digging through this thread to find more of the music people have posted, and plan on scouring the release and constructive criticism to see what else can find.
@minusbaby, that 6955 video is astounding, have you tried opening multiple tabs with that video and playing them all? It's intense.
@NUCLACE: no hard feelings, and I really liked my theme XD.

There's only so much timbre that can come out of the chip. Granted, I'm not saying I haven't heard some amazing stuff come out of it, but you have to keep in mind that there's always going to be overlap in it's sounds.
I understand this,
but why do so little artists choose to blatantly shell themselves into this limited timbre area, they could incorporate so many more timbres, and expand on the idea of game boy music to appeal to wider audiences.

For the record I'm stating that
Treyfrey is not an amatuer at LSDJ composition for at this I would have no knowledge of comprehending the work he puts into it,
as for melody work however, I can say I have not heard much that is very spectacular out of him,
maybe you all know more than I do about the work he puts into it,
but I don't.
To me it sounds like any other LSDJ music, the timbres are very similar to many other similar LSDJ works I've heard before,
I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, I just personally don't enjoy it.

Fuck it.
I fail to see what you even contribute to this community.
Your music is sub-par, and you act like a child.

Where do you get the idea that he thought there was anything wrong with it? The "offensive" word he used in regards to your music is often aimed at one's own works, and the respected works of others. It doesn't necessarily mean they think it should be flushed down a toilet.
He just made it seem like synthpop is some generic staple genre that is easily found and easy to obtain.

Bam he wanted fake bit this was like his 4th or 5th post,
he didn't want that lo-fi aesthetic, he wanted sabrepulse clones.
Lazare wrote:here's my lastfm if you guys need a better picture of the music I enjoy
and just look at his lastfm
depeche mode, tangerine dream, blondie, BOC, Kraftwerk,

He could have just googled that shit.
EDIT: I'm kinda pissed now this guy was just being a jackass
What is wrong with synthpop?

Re: Where's the Melody-driven Chip? (240 replies, posted in General Discussion)
This has been a very unwelcoming experience,
I was simply stating my own opinions on music,
and asking for general advice for seeking other music I might enjoy,
even stating that it preferably not be made with the DMG console,
however it would seem that the LSDJ sound is all this community is concerned about,
to the point they have to rub it in others faces and call them stupid for not agreeing with the others opinions about these LSDJ artists.
I think you all need a good hard look in the mirror to find out who the troll is, people have different opinions and views we all aren't the same, that is what makes the world great.
I hope chipmusic.org expands in the future to cover more areas of the field of chip music.
EDIT: Not aimed at the people who were actually kind and took the time to read my posts and understand the direction I was coming from. You know who you are I hope

Harassment, calling me stupid.

i think the two things that caused this were A. you posting ponies on cm.o, and B. you calling treyfrey an amateur. imo, you brought this one on yourself bro
Again I fail to see how enjoying something you don't, and retrospectively not enjoying something you do makes me a bad person.

Ooh. I love trolls who act formal!
Why do you persist I'm a troll, is another human being not aloud to have a distinct informative opinion different from your own?

Re: Where's the Melody-driven Chip? (240 replies, posted in General Discussion)
So I'm not really sure what this thread is about though...what exactly are you looking for? Non-chip sounding chip that has melodies?
As I have state there is more than one sound chip in the world, not just the DMG.
Also the rules have been brought to my attention,
there is a good deal of harassment being placed on me here in this thread, and I have yet to see any kind of moderation over the action of said harassment.

Re: Where's the Melody-driven Chip? (240 replies, posted in General Discussion)
here's a post from a previous thread detailing artists I've heard while scavenging the site that I have enjoyed.
Out of the artists I've heard from digging around this site,
Je Mappelle (The J-Pop album he has posted is pretty stellar)
I've already mentioned Saskrotch, his newer stuff is even more impressive to me than the older.
Sabrepulse (DUH!)
Starpilot seems to be pretty rad from what I've heard on the release page.
Minusbaby has some pretty original sounds going for him
J. Arthur Keene also seems to appeal to me
