less blipblip and more yoiyoi
to be honest, from what i've heard from recent chip releases and shit, i think Beastmode is currently the most influential chip artist even tho he's not around. even if u dont know who he is, u prolly are influenced by someone who tried to work on his tip. i say we all try and crowdfund a ton of money to make his french canadian ass put out a full length chip record asap.

fuck yes! really glad about this post! well thought out death of a project is always a really inspirational thing. to say "im done, ive completed what i needed to do" is a really motivational move. thanks for posting. yes, chipmusic people have been great, but the fact remains that the "nostalgia" and "videogame nerds who make music" thing is still the most prevalent and annoying thingabout this whole "scene". i have been away from it for a while now because i felt i couldnt get away from what i reeeealllyyy didnt want to associate myself with, but over time i made friends and things grew on me. im glad for everyone in the scene who supports eachother by buying music downloading music and attending shows. youre all super cool and thanks to the supporters, people like akira can do rad projects. LETS MOVE INTO THE FUTURE AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!!

Re: What would you like in a chiptune hardware synth (63 replies, posted in Other Hardware)
honestly, for me, somethig thats super minimal but capable of a wide range of sounds within limitations and full song tracking. like my ideal chip hardware has one synth channel similar to the gameboys WAV or commodore64 synth and then one noise channel thats capable of sounding like commodore or gameboy. NOT NES. nes is only capable of very weak sounding blips and reqlly whimpy noise channel sounds. i guess a sampler would be cool but you can get that abywhere. a rad synth with even just two channels or one channel would honestly change my life. and if the noise channel is as Versatile or more versatile than a gameboys, holy fucking fuck would that be fantastic. me and shitbird did a split where we just used the wav and noi channels on lsdj and always kinda wiShed there was a rad synth like THAT. something i can express maximalistic minimalism on. but thats probably just me idk

Just remember: diversity, dynamic, and surprise. Sonic diversity, melodic diversity, diversity in song structure, dynamic with well thought out and well placed sounds, and always surprise people with breaks, interesting samples or lyrics or just thigs you wouldn't expect. Making sure that songs em in a way you wouldn't expect is always fun too. Just keep your songs hella interesting to yourself and that's pretty much it. Make ppl go like "WOA that's cool" and don't make them wait too long. Long intros make ppl skip songs.

Music is so dead now. It's all bout interpretive dance. There's a new breakthrough dance style called "donut core" it's where you dance with jelly donuts tied to yourself. It's the biggest new underground thing since punk rock. #donutcoredanceislife

Re: Has anyone had trouble travelling with carrying modified game consoles (22 replies, posted in General Discussion)
When I was to Seattle FighterX gave me his heavily modded Speak n Spell, when I got back to Sweden and opened my luggage there was a small note from the US Airport Security that they had inspected my luggage. And yes they broke it. With Game Boys I've only had them swabbed for bombs. I think it's worse for circuit bent stuff then for Game Boys.
fucking whackkk

ppl just should make more eerie, weird, and INCORRECT notation in MY opinion. (atonal shit, more black keys, and more choppy in-between notes)
