Awesome work Kartmaze!!

Original and triumfant crossover between chipmusic and progressive rock. Very good!!

I'm not sure if you know about the Swedish progressive rock band Änglagård, but I have worked with them very much during this last year (filming them for a documentary series) and hearing your take on combining the genres makes me very happy.

Keep up the good work and thank you for the music!!

Holy crap, how did I never see this thread ever before?!

You're music is right up my alley, I'm completely floored with your songs.

Keep you the good work! big_smile

Thanks! Glad you enjoy the tunes!! :-)

I hope you don’t mind me picking up this topic again. I found it while scanning through old topics and felt the urge to jump in.

As an old mod-enthusiast it’s hard to know where to begin. Some sugestions seem too obvious to me but I’m not sure if they are obvious for todays crowd. So please bare with me here.

Do you want good ol catchy melodic synthstuff? On the Amiga Lizardking was a pretty obvious answer. He had a characteristic sound throughout much of his tunes (Korg Wavestation ;-) ) and particular style (doskpop). He is one of those guys that was used as a benchmark. ”This sounds like doskpop, this sounds like Lizardking”.   If you ask me this is a good typical Lizardking .mod, if you like this you should download some more of his .mod-tunes since you probably will enjoy the rest of his stuff aswell: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv78JqoDuDk

A popular later artist on the PC that could be said to build upon the doskpop sound was Elwood: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rN6T1qa9NY

Do you prefere darker and more rythmical music with less obvious lead melodies? Fancy distorted drums? Then Dune might be for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2MUI_Ywk1A

Want tracked chiptunes?

Your fellow forum member 4-Mat is a early, popular, classic composer in the genre: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wZ8jOYPEvc

Another popular early guy on the amiga was Emax: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1-fVb9vZDE

A bit later Radix emerged:

Radix sound on the Amiga (and later on the PC as well) was a big inspiration for classic PC chip-artists such as Loonie:

Some Amiga artists that I personally hold amongst my favorites that might not be as obvious to find for new enthusiasts are:

XTD : He made loads of awesome stuff on the Amiga and went on to do some awesome stuff on the PC as well. It’s kind of hard to pin point his stylie. He works alot with crazy genre crossovers. Many of his tunes are very heavy. Hard techno or industrial/metal guitar rythmic stuff while others are at the opposite end of the spectrum, cute and melodic. . …but the parts i really enjoy are when he does all things at once, check this out, the change at 2:03 makes me smile every time! :

And oh by the way, he has done some nice chiptunes as well ;-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPeBRDeBCOE

ELF: Another sort of overlooked, super awesome, guy. When i heard this tune by him some time back in the early 90’s I was instantly hooked on the .mod-scene. This is one of my alltime favorites:

CAPTAIN: Finally. I hope everyone has already heard this, but if some one has managed not to this is the time to listen to one of the true classics from the Amiga era. How can you not love this tune!?!

Hello again!

I'm back with a new track:  https://soundcloud.com/gusse_dsx/intergalactikus

I struggled with this one and I'm not sure how it turned out in the end. I hope it was worth the effort and that some one ejnoys the end result?

BTW: Xylo, I love your and Cerror's tunes! Rainbow Dash is awesome!! Keep up the good work!!

Yay demoscene!! Ofcourse I remember those names, most of them are still my biggest inspiration. I'll listen to your stuff later.

Why did you stop demoscene? And don't you want to come back for some beers on Evoke or Revision?

I think Daniel Wressle aka Brandon Walsh is doing stuff for digisonix now, he's doing pretty good in compo's.

Im not sure exactly why I stoped but I think most of my scenefriends did the same thing at about the same time. We were all about the same age and I guess there was some sort of generation change happening. I seem to remember feeling like I wasn't enjoying it as much any more, thinking that I've had my run at the scene and that it simply was time to move on. Studies, work, relationships, new hobbies and the rest of life in general took over.

I joined Loonie at some small local c64-gathering a while back. Can't remember the name.  I might do that again if the opportunity presents it self , but I cant see my self traveling outside Stockholm for a demoparty any time soon. I don't have the time.

I don't think I know of Daniel Wressle but I'll google him!

Can you point out other recent chip-trackermusicians that do melodic tunes like Radix and Loonie used to do them?  I know about Malmen but I'm sure there are loads of others I have missed!

Where do people release their stuff these days?
